Cross Country Fall Season Off to a Fast Start

The Grain Valley High School XC team has won the Twilight Glow meet title 3 times in 3 seasons, along with the girls XC team coming in third with a time of 1:08:28. Cross country has been on a roll the past few years winning multiple conference championships and are looking pretty good this season already. The Queen city after dark was a big finish for grain valley placing in the top 5 against some very competitive teams.
Led by Junior Runners Colby Sinn and freshman Jason Crowder on the boys side and Sophomore Evelynn Hay are killing it this season with personal records and high school records. Grain Valley is on track to win a 4th consecutive conference championship.
Junior Colby Sinn said, “I feel as an athlete I did pretty good while going through with the plan and trusting my coaches and team. I think as a team we ran our part perfectly doing the best we could this weekend.” about his most recent run at the queen city after dark.
If the XC team goes on a roll to end the season going into state they would have a very high chance of placing in the top 3 for boys. They gotta keep the season going strong and keep pushing at practice trying to get better time so they can keep adding to the record books in Grain Valley.
Coach Small said, “Went really well overall, the team had 15 personal record times. Our team finished top 5 out of the 20 complete teams there.” about the Queen city after dark and rest of season..
(freshman) Jason Crowder, ran an all time Grain Valley record for times. (Sophomore) Evelyn Hay ran the second fastest time in Grain Valley history.
The seniors this year are looking to seek a run deep into state placing top 5 to finish out their senior year strong and on a good finish. I think this would be a big accomplishment not just for the seniors but also for the entire XC team. Ending on a strong note could boost their confidence at the start of the season next year.
